Description
Himalayan pink salt is a pink-hued variety of salt that is sourced near the Himalayan mountains of South Asia. Himalayan salt is believed by many to be a healthier alternative to common table salt or sodium chloride. Though mined like rock salt, Himalayan pink salt is technically a sea salt.
It’s also called halite, saindhava lavana or rock salt. Himalayan pink salt is one of the best known types of rock salt, but several other varieties exist. Sendha namak is highly valued in Ayurveda, a system of alternative medicine originating in India.
It contains up to 98 percent sodium chloride. The rest of the salt consists of trace minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, and calcium
